Mirjam Zondag

In 1986 I started my education to become a nurse. During the first years of my education I worked at Sint Antoniushove hospital in Leidschendam and during the specialization to become a Children's nurse, I worked at the JKZ Children's Hospital in The Hague.

Since 1993 I have been working as an IC nurse on the PICU of Sophia Children's Hospital, Erasmus medical centre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

In 2000 I finished a Shantala baby massage practitioner's course. After this I followed several aromatherapy, reflexology and massage workshops as well as Reiki I and II. I've personally experienced that I can't use Shantala baby massage and other massage techniques on critically ill children on the PICU as these techniques are way too intense for these patients. It's great to be able to offer the 'M' technique, even to infants receiving ECMO treatment. These children are critically ill and restricted in their movements.

During March 2009 I've completed the 'M' Technique course. 'M' technique is very suitable for the patients on the PICU. I always try to integrate the 'M' technique in my daily routine and offer this technique to interested parents so they can learn how to practice it on their children. It's a technique which is highly appreciated by both parents and children.

In June 2009 I became a registered aroma therapist, so this gives me the opportunity to use aromatherapy with the 'M' Technique in combination.

In April 2011 I've completed the 'M' Technique instructor course in London, I hope to be able to train many people in this great technique in the Netherlands.
