Susan M Fishwick
Susie is one of a team of Complementary Therapists who work at the FORCE Cancer Support Centre in Exeter. She has a private practice at Rolle Podiatry and Health in Budleigh Salterton and is a regular visiter at Residential Care and Nursing Homes in the area where she provides voluntary therapy for the Exmouth and Budleigh Hospice Carers Group.
Like many others, I find this area of work hugely fulfilling. My move into Complementary Therapy has been a long and gradual one. Following a natural disaster in the West Indies in 1995, I personally discovered the benefits of massage, which helped me cope during a particularly stressful time.
Early attempts to study anatomy, physiology and massage alongside having a young family, full time work and ‘starting over’ in England were thwarted. However, several years later during another chapter in my life, while living on a remote Island off the West Coast of Scotland, long distance learning of anatomy and physiology came into its own.
After passing the anatomy and physiology courses, I attended courses in London, Oxford and Devon.
I chose the M Technique because it sits so comfortably within my area of work and offers a hands-on therapy that is suitable in many different settings. I have seen first hand the soothing and calming effects that occur with magical ease.
I hope that teaching the M Technique to others will also empower them to help other people, perhaps at a difficult time in someone else’s life.
